For the Duke community
Moving to Durham for Duke? Let's sort the housing first
Whether you're starting a graduate program, joining a lab, or relocating for a role at the medical center, we match you to rentals near the campus or department you'll actually be commuting to — and handle it remotely if you're moving from out of town.
How the concierge works
- 1
Tell us where on campus you'll be
East Campus, West Campus, the medical center, or one of the research buildings off-campus — plus your budget, move-in month, and lease length. We map that to the right neighborhoods.
- 2
We match homes to your commute
We know which areas put you within a walk, a bus route, or a short drive of each part of Duke, and we filter for what fits your budget and timing.
- 3
Tour from wherever you are
Still finishing a degree elsewhere or interviewing remotely? We run video walkthroughs and manage the lease digitally, so distance isn't a blocker.
- 4
Line up move-in with the academic calendar
August start dates get competitive early. We plan backward from your program or job start so you're not searching during the crunch.
Frequently asked questions
- I'm moving in August with everyone else. When should I start?
- The earlier the better — good homes near Duke lease up by late spring for an August move. Reach out as soon as you have your start date and we'll work backward from there.
- Can you match me to a specific commute?
- Yes. Tell us whether you'll be at East Campus, West Campus, the Duke medical center, or an off-campus building, and we'll prioritize homes within your preferred walk, transit, or drive time.
- I'm relocating from another state and can't visit first.
- That's common with Duke moves. We do live video tours and handle applications and lease signing digitally so you can secure a home before you arrive.
- Do you handle roommate or shared situations?
- We can. Tell us your group size and budget per person and we'll look at both whole-home rentals and rooms that fit the arrangement.
- What does it cost?
- The concierge is free to renters. Property owners pay us when we place a home, so there's no fee or markup on your end.
